Finalmente! I'm for-real launching my Substack!
It only took me a year to get started on this Substack…
Last January (yeah, as in 2023), I decided that I was going to start writing more, and thus, I would start a Substack. Well, I did write more. I have a few articles being published this year as a result. And while I’m delighted to see those ideas go out into the world, those writings wind up being seen only by a small group of academics (or maybe my students if I force them). Amid that research and writing, each month, my Big Idea of writing on Substack became just another item on my To-do list that I never got to cross out.
But now…
I’m ready. In October (2023), I opened The Peace Education Center of the Hudson Valley (www.pechv.org) and got re-fired up to share my (not-so) random thoughts on peace, justice, education, climate chaos, eco-spirituality, and the like.
So, I’ve put a big green box on my weekly calendar to set a Writing Time…
And I hope that you will join me in reading, commenting, discussing, and sharing what I’m going to share with you.
My plan (and you know what they say about plans) is to post weekly, probably on Tuesday morning.
Some writing will be Fresh New Ideas I am ruminating on. Some writing will come from what I just taught or read with my students. Some writing will come from my favorite sermons, usually a lesson I need Right Now. I’ll see how the spirit moves me! Free subscribers will get all the weekly posts. Paid subscribers will get that and access to the backlog and, if all goes according to plan (ahem), a video (do they still call the Vlogs?) from me.
So enjoy this photo of me enjoying myself on Starr Island at the IRAS (Institute on Religion in an Age of Science) Conference (I will be sharing some stuff from there too).
Not sure where that strange black dotted line came from, but, oh well!
